From the ground to growth!
Meet Delphine, a tenant at Gatebe Market Hub who has been selling foodstuff for the past five years. Before joining the hub, her business was a daily struggle. She sold on the ground, moving from place to place, exposed to heavy rain, harsh sun, and constant insecurity. Work depended on the weather, and there was no stability. She came to the market hub looking for something better drawn by its affordability, safety, and the freedom to work longer hours with access to electricity.
Today, Delphine’s business is stable and growing. She now works in a secure, covered space where weather is no longer a limitation. Beyond her daily work, she is an active member of a savings group, saving weekly and strengthening her financial discipline. She sees the market hub not just as a workplace, but as an opportunity that brought access to a proper market for a community that once lacked one.
Looking ahead, Delphine dreams of owning her own retail shop. She hopes to join the next Business Leader Development training, inspired by the growth she has seen in others who completed the program. Now financially stable, she is able to support her family and afford health insurance. Her journey shows how the right environment can turn daily survival into steady progress and she hopes more rural communities can experience the same opportunity.
