Venerandar Uwimana is a 54-year-old food seller and a proud tenant at Akayange Market Hub.
For many years, she sold food in an open-air market, where her business was constantly affected by rain, poor safety, and the daily struggle of carrying her goods back and forth. Every day came with uncertainty weather changes, fear of loss, and limited chances to grow.
Everything began to change when Venerandar joined Akayange Market Hub in May 2025 and became a part of Kinvest Impact Foundation’s Business Leader Development Program. She gradually completed both the Level 1 and Level 2 training, something she never imagined she would accomplish at her age. “I never expected to learn business skills at my age, and I am glad Kinvest Impact came my way,” she shared with pride.
Through the training, Venerandar learned practical skills that now guide her daily business decisions. She learned how to budget, manage her finances, set priorities, save, invest wisely, and understand business risks. These skills have helped her run her food business more confidently and professionally. Today, she clearly sees the difference not only in her income, but in how she plans, saves, and makes decisions.
The impact goes beyond her business. Venerandar can now support her family of eight. She is able to pay for family health insurance and contribute to her grandchildren’s school needs something that once felt out of reach. Her business is no longer just about survival; it is a source of stability and dignity for her entire family.
Venerandar’s story is a powerful reminder that opportunity has no age limit. She hopes Kinvest can expand to other districts in need, so more people like her can access safe market spaces, business training, and a real chance to improve their lives.
