Fostering Food Security

Aug 21, 2024

Being food secure means consistent access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food necessary for an active and healthy life. To achieve this, factors such as food availability, access, and utilization must be addressed.

In Rwanda, food security faces challenges including land scarcity, climate variability, economic constraints, and inadequate infrastructure, which collectively hinder food production, distribution, and consumption.

We tackle these challenges in partnership with local leaders by connecting people with market opportunities. Our solar-powered Market Hubs feature a covered market where small business owners and farmers can sell their goods. Additionally, our transportation service helps farmers and entrepreneurs get their products to market, boosting the economy and increasing food access. Our water access points provide reliable and affordable clean water, essential for agriculture and the overall health of rural communities, further supporting food security and economic participation.

By supporting these entrepreneurs, we unlock potential and redefine futures. Together, we promote sustainable economic growth and foster food security in Rwanda.
