Twisungane, meaning “let’s come together,” started as a savings group in Akayange but has grown into something much more. Now an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) group, they’ve leveraged their collective resources to launch a thriving pig farming project that benefits all 18 members. 

Our Business Leadership Development Program gave them the confidence to make bold financial decisions. In just six months, their pigs’ value has increased over 200%, and one is even expecting piglets! Their goal is to sell piglets, reinvest in larger pigs, and ensure every member owns at least one. 

Their impact goes beyond farming. By offering small loans at a 5% interest rate, they’re helping members grow their businesses while also covering essential costs like health insurance, school fees, and future land investments. 

With a solid foundation in savings, lending, and farming, Twisungane is shaping a future of financial independence in Akayange.
